Live performance

When I was growing up in northern China, my family moved a lot. As a child, I spent a few years near Shenyang. After we moved away in the 1970s, I had yet to go back. For that reason, it was very exciting and special for me to be back in Shenyang to perform as an artist at the festival.

My performance took place in a new house that still had no windows installed. The audience followed me around the space as I looked into the distant landscape, which was both familiar and strange. I reminisced about my childhood, speaking about my memories and singing an improvised song.
